Microsoft Exchange Server Hack

Microsoft image

Microsoft has suffered a major cyber-attack affecting its Exchange server customers.

The Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center attributed the attacks with “high confidence” to a “state-sponsored threat actor”. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) estimated 7,000 servers had been affected by the flaw in the UK and only half had been secured.

CSI’s technical team proactively worked with clients to plan and roll out patching updates at the earliest opportunity.

In one client instance, we picked up some unusual activity prior to the patch which led to deeper diagnostics and threat protection scans. Following this, we assisted the company in question to ensure that no data breach occurred.

The NCSC has stated that it was vital that all affected businesses took action to secure their email servers and CSI is helping organisations to protect their data, employees and customers.

With managed cloud services, data protection and security offerings we can provide the first and last lines of defence in the fight against cyber attacks.
