There are 5.4 million small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK. These rely heavily on access to finance and capital to fund growth, but often smaller enterprises don’t meet the strict lending criteria set out by larger banks.
This has paved the way for the emergence of alternative finance providers and a wave of specialist banks offering new finance options in different business models.
Our client offers focused services to businesses largely neglected by big banking institutions. Success depends on running specialised financial applications in a resilient and secure IT environment.
The bank decided to engage with an experienced IT managed services provider to ensure system performance, availability, and security. This strategy allows the bank to focus on developing financial products with confidence in the stability of its supporting infrastructure.
The scope of the engagement had to support an IT estate including physical and virtual servers, storage, backups, publishing updates for application updates publishing, SQL databases, common back-office services such as Active Directory, firewalls, and network connectivity.
WE FIND THAT CSI ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HELP US WITH ISSUES, OFFER ADVICE AND A HELPING HAND IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. MEETINGS WITH CSI LEAVE US WITH THE IMPRESSION THAT OUR SATISFACTION IS THEIR MAIN GOAL.
CSI and the bank designed a set of managed services that address distinct ‘Service Towers’ to provide clear visibility of IT reliability, capacity, and performance. CSI manages the bank’s primary and secondary IT platforms in two geographically separate data centres.
CSI monitors all services around the clock – including financial applications – and the CSI Service Desk manages all incidents in accordance with ISO quality and security standards. Regular reviews allow the bank to discuss service delivery as well as analysing performance and capacity usage. Improvements are identified and plans are monitored.
CSI’s managed services ensure that the bank’s IT services are stable and data is protected. SSL VPN connectivity ensures that authorised users have secure remote access to business applications when required.
A strong working relationship has developed between the bank, CSI, and fintech providers – and this helps to work through complex issues that can occur from time to time.
The reliability of its managed IT infrastructure gives the bank freedom to consider new investments to enhance the customer journey and experience.
There are now 18 million new-entrant bank accounts in the UK – up 35% since 2018.
Two-thirds of new-entrant account holders keep their old bank accounts open.
In 2022, European banks are expected to spend one-third of IT budgets on digital transformation.
