Audience:
Advanced users or those wishing to create professional looking reports utilising advanced report functions above and beyond those offered in Query Studio.

Prerequisites:
Experience with a web browser and Microsoft Windows applications is desirable; an appreciation of Query Studio would be useful , but not necessary.

Software Release
This course will use IBM Cognos 8 standard demonstration data as the basis for the workshops and examples. It is possible to customize the course notes and examples using your own data , however there will be an additional fee for this customization.

Course Outline

This course is aimed at technical business report authors responsible for producing professional reports based on a clear understanding of the business requirements and to distribute them in various formats (pdf , excel etc ) around the business. These authors will be able to design and develop complex , formatted and functionally rich reports. This will involve techniques required to extract information and present it in a readable and clear format and layout which will also include charting options. To accomplish this we will use concepts such as sorting , grouping , adding new calculations , drill-through reports , totals and sub-totals and adding flexibility into the query to allow the author to create multiple prompts for users to select what items they want to show on the report. We will also look at Event Studio and other additional functions in Cognos 8.4 such as bookmarks , watch items , scheduling and versions.
